- So we made it to the farthest planned point on our Highlands and Islands road trip. Durness is about 10 miles from Cape Wrath - the most north westerly point of the mainland. To get to Cape Wrath itself requires a short ferry trip and then a 10 mile mini bus trip on a private road through an MOD range. We didn't fancy the mini van bit. So we took Scooby Hound down to Sango Sands. My - it was windy. At least a force 8 and probably gusting more. So windy, in fact, we didn't fancy a long yomp today.
