- An unexpectedly good sail down to Dartmouth. The SYC "race" (really a "cruise in company" for most) down to Dartmouth had a weather forecast of winds straight on the nose. That, and the half term holiday, cut down the entrants. As it turned out, the winds were all over the place with big wind shifts and winds from next to nothing to up to about to 20 knots. Overall, way, way better sailing than the "slog" that I'd feared. Thalmia happy to have won the Newport Trophy rather than the Drew Trophy! Lovely evening meal in the George and Dragon with SYC peeps. Kudos to the 40 year owners of a Westerly Fulmar who were welcoming and helpful as we rafted up next to them in Derek's Fulmar. Hope we weren't too noisy when we headed out at 04:30.
