- Lovely late October day - sunny and very little wind. Went for a paddle round the Pole Sands. On the sea side of the Pole Sands coming in to a beach with small breaking waves and rudder up, I ended up sideways on to a wave and then underwater shortly after. In about 3 foot of water! On the way back, saw a dead dolphin (or maybe a porpoise) on a sandbank in the estuary. Which is a shame for many reasons - not least it being the first time I've seen a dolphin inside the estuary.
