| Across the Pentland Firth | 2026-05-07 | Took the ferry across the Pentland Firth from Gills bay to St Margaret' Hope.
All fine. Wind was F5 gusting F7 but it was neaps and not wind directly against tide. There was still an impressive "wall" of white water further off to the east.
Tye was a little bit of a wuss but happily didn't try to throw himself overboard.
Was expecting a little bit of to and fro squeezing vans in but wasn't expecting to have to reverse the van 100 yards and on to the rather narrow ferry entrance.
All good though.

| St Margarets Hope | 2026-05-22 | Down from the rather delightful Wheams Campsite to St Margaret's Hope looking for a pint and dinner.
The pub with the best reputation for food claimed to be full for dinner when we called in at 17:30 (probably don't like the English as I suspect they might just have been able to squeeze us into the empty beer garden). Took our custom elsewhere for a so-so pub meal.

| Windy Hope Cove | 2015-04-18 | Windy. Very windy. A very windy walk from Hope Cove to Bolt Tail and round the coast a bit. Hard work - uphill, in a force 8 with a dog pulling like a bastard to eat every sheep in the field and also eat all the sheep sh1t. Good views though and the halloumi, spicy salad and cheesy chips and the Hope and Anchor in Hope Cove was excellent.
