Along the estuary and canal to the Swing Bridges and then back via Powderham Castle
Swing Bridges bike ride
Down to Dawlish Warren for the bakery then up to the Swing Bridges and then back via SYC to pick up everything I'd left there on Wednesday. And some sea weed.
Slow ride to Swing Bridges
Swing Bridges - windy but from the side. In the photo Liz demonstrates the art of propping your bike up on just one brake leaver (and on a windy day at that).
Swing Bridges and Spar shopping. Liz was averaging 12.1 mph by the Swans Nest on the way back.
Food shopping at Dawlish Warren and then back via the Swing Bridges. Faster than usual for Liz on the way back.
No wind
One major fxxxwit (dog walker) and one minor fxxxwit (geriatric cyclist trying to catch covid) on the path today.
Dawlish food shopping followed by a very windy Swing Bridges ride. Gusting 30 knots from the south - directly into the wind on the way home.
Saw lots of people from SYC taking their exercise. Best weather of the year so far.
Food shopping at Dawlish Warren and then round to the Swing Bridges. Not as wet and windy as the last few days.
More wind and rain.
Down to Dawlish Warren for some food shopping and then to the Swing Bridges and back. Wet and windy. Straight into a bit of a gale on the way back.
Rainy and windy but not cold. Saw Mark S on the way back - he'd also miscalculated just how rainy it was going to be. Newly serviced bikes nice and silent.
Actually the BBC weather app said minus two with wind chill to minus 8. Windy.
Down to Dawlish Warren for food shopping and then to the Swing Bridges and back. Straight into the teeth of Storm Darcy!
Along the estuary and canal to the swing bridges on the newly serviced bikes. Stopped for a cup of coffee at the Turf on the way back
First time back on the bike after a couple of very wet months. To the Swing Bridges and back again.
A lovely cycle ride to the Swing Bridges. Bit of a sod on the way back straight into the southerly force 5 all the way. Aidans first time back on the bike for a couple of months.
First bike ride in a very long time. Only as far as the Countess Wear swing bridges over the Exeter Canal. Work is about half way through the 14 month schedule of work on the swing bridge / roads. As per the pictures, o…
To the Swing Bridges and back with Liz
Was going to be further but Liz didn't like the thunder. Slow - very slow.
More cycling
Pre-work cycle ride
Thought the cycle path would be quiet on an overcast Thursday afternoon. It wasn't. Back to the hills then.
Given that it was cold and dreek, we thought there'd be no one on the cycle path. Still fairly busy though.
Fast for Liz - especially given that the wind changed such that there was a head wind for the last quarter of the ride.
To Swing Bridges and back. Took some photos of a yacht about to go down. Looked as though it might have been "nose down" yesterday. Clearly "nose down" as we went towards Exeter and worse as we were coming back. Rang Har…
