Croyde Bay 2021-05-19 Revisiting a Croyde Bay walk. Scooby loved being back at Saunton Sands,
Croyde and Saunton Sands 2017-05-06 From Croyde Bay towards Saunton and then down onto Saunton Sands to give the hound a low tide run about. Think Saunton Sands is might make it into Scooby's all time top three beaches! Some photos from Woolacombe Beach (on the next day) may have snuck in somehow.
Saunton Sands and Burrows 2017-09-23 Scooby's final beach walk of the holiday. Along the seemingly endless Saunton Sands at low tide. Then back inland to the east of the Burrows before finally cutting across the Burrows to give Scooby a final bit of of beach action before an ice cream at Saunton Sands.
Pole Sands Paddling 2021-03-31 Another kayak trip to the Pole Sands. First paddle of the year and with the 2nd highest tide of the year. Out with a strong tide and just a little wind against. Back with tide and wind. Sun even came out - ideal. No hound this time as the water is probably a little cold if he fell in. Meant I got to read a whole chapter of my book on the Pole Sands with no nagging from the dog (just nagging from the wife - which is easier to ignore),

Praa Sands to Cudden Point 2020-09-15 Along the south west coast path from Praa Sands to Cudden Point. Past Prussia Cove and on to Cudden Point for great views across Mounts Bay and Saint Michael's Mount. See the photos for the pussy cat carrying hippie - it's not me, I've got a got a dog to keep happy.

Paddle round the Pole Sands 2021-04-14 Lovely paddle down from SYC, around the Pole Sands and back again. Had a poke around a new channel that seems to be opening up from buoys 7/8. A line between the lifeboat station and just a little east of the Parsons Nose (off Dawlish) gives what seems to be slightly deeper water than the marked channel. However, it doesn't seem as wide and wouldn't be easy to identify coming back into the estuary. Had a 3.9 metre tide and some wind to push me back to SYC - lush!

Pole Sands Paddling 2021-05-29 Out to the Pole Sands on a lovely Spring day. Joined by Marija and Jeremy L in their new Sea Eagle 385 FT. A veritable fleet of Sea Eagles. Scooby was a pretty good boy given it was his first trip out in the kayak this year. A bit barky though.

Meathop and Grange-over-Sands 2022-04-29 An 06:45 start and 350 miles got us to the south of the Lake District by about 2 p.m. In time for a short yomp to Grange-over-Sands. A very pretty village on the north of Morcombe Bay. But where the hell where the pubs? Found one eventually. Back along the edge of the bay where Scooby hound danced with joy for being off the lead. Then back to Meathop Fell camp site where, as it was my night to cook, I treated us to two Fungi pizzas from the mobile pizzeria. C&M campsite very nice - spotlessly clean - not too Stepford Wives.
Luskentyre Sands - a new favourite 2022-05-14 Scooby Hound in love with the beach at Luskentyre Sands on Harris. Miles and miles of pristine sand with views across to Taransay.
Lazy day at Gairloch 2022-05-21 With two of the three camper van inhabitants not waking up until gone 09:30, we opted for a lazy / veg / reading day today. Scooby got 2 walks along the beach.
Down river paddle 2022-07-15 And just a little bit out to sea. Lovely day - hot but with a cooling sea breeze. Retrieved a kite surfers board after he had some minor difficulties.

Pole Sands paddling 2022-08-27 Down to the Pole Sands with Jeremy and Marija L. Accompanying an SYC dinghy cruise. After we forgot Scooby Hound's tennis ball, Marija very kindly bought him a ball on a rope. Which he promptly destroyed! Followed up with some kayak capsize practise at SYC - capsizing both the Sea Eagle inflatable and the hard shell Triumph 13.

Pole Sands paddling 2022-10-11 Just about a perfect sunny October paddle on the Exe Estuary. Had a close encounter with a seal who seemed to want the bit of sand I was sitting on while having my lunch.

Pole Sands Paddling 2023-12-26 Well not so much the Pole Sands as just off Dawlish Warren because the swashway was filled with buzzy little motorboats doing their Boxing Day race. Nice paddle - very little wind.

Canoe round the Pole Sands 2017-10-08 A paddle round the Pole Sands. Not enough wind to go sailing so we decided to take the hound for a paddle round the Pole Sands. With a 4.2m springs tide, there was a lot of water sluicing out past Exmouth Docks. However, as we were quite early there wasn't much Pole Sands. So we turned right and took the hound to groyne 9 on Dawlish Warren for a bit. Then out to the Pole Sands and "Islandia".

Pole Sand canoe trip 2014-09-27 Was supposed to be an out to sea dinghy but there was no wind. So went out in the canoe. met up with the dinghy cruisers from SYC who had managed to find a little wind after all.
Pole Sands picnic 2014-10-25 A late October down river dinghy cruise. Destination was the Pole Sands for a picnic. Bit late in the season for a picnic but the planned trip earlier in the year didn't work out. Lovely sail - decent range of winds. Big tides assisted the top speed of 9.2 knots.

First sail of the year on Nigel's Dart 2015-06-08 Lots of wind going down the estuary. Quite a bit of wind out at sea for a while and some waves to play with. After lunch at the beach cafe the wind died away a bit making the sail back up the channel alongside Exmout beach somewhat tricky (including some fun in the shallow waters just before the Warren point), More wind when back in the estuary but the strength of the ebbing tide made it a "tactical" sail back to SYC.

Pole Sands picnic 2015-08-15 Sail down from SYC to the Pole Sands. A bit of everything wind wise. From nothing to about a F4 and quite a lot of gusts in between, Put first reef in for the trip back which made things easier

SYC Mystery Dinghy Cruise 2016-07-13 "Officer Of The Day" for the SYC "mystery dinghy cruise". What the mystery was to be was, er, a mystery to us. So we decided that it would be cricket and drinkies on the Bull Sands in the middle of the Exe Estuary at low water. F4 gusting F5 a fair bit of the time but it seems a good time was had by all.
Praa Sands to Trewavas Mine 2020-09-16 Along the south west coast past from Praa Sands to a little way beyond Trewavas Mine. Spot the photos of the camel's head and the alligator head!

SYC to Pole Sands 2018-07-14 A canoe paddle down from SYC to the Pole Sands in company with Ellie T and Marco F (and the hound). Strong Spring tides both ways but a sea breeze made the paddle out hard work and super easy on the way back. Scooby enjoyed having four different people to throw the ball for him on the Pole Sands!

Pole Sands paddling 2020-08-01 With ball action on the Pole Sands and Bull Hill, this was doggy heaven. Apart from the kayaking bit and getting a wet bottom when a few waves came over the side of the kayak.

Pole Sands Paddling 2020-08-31 An ideal days paddling. Wind and tide with us on the way out and on the way back! Liz fell in when getting out of the kayak on the Pole Sands. Much screaming from Liz and Scooby when we came back round the outside of the Pole Sands.
