Dogmarsh Bridge Fingle Bridge | 2015-10-19 | Along the Teign Valley as the trees start to change colour for the autumn.
We've done this walk a few times before but it was unusual this time due to the "art in the woods" (see the photos) and Castle Drogo being completely covered in scaffolding and tarpaulins.

Dogmarsh Bridge to Fingle Bridge | 2015-03-28 | With Liz and Julian from Dogmarsh Bridge to Fingle Bridge.
Wedding at pub at Fingle Bridge meant no river side drinkies.
Wedding ring finger got bitten by something again - finger badly swollen but not anywhere near as painful as last time (but only just got the wedding ring off before the swelling was too great).

Budleigh to Otterton hound walk | 2020-06-19 | Scooby's been complaining about "just going round the block" so we took him for a stroll from Budleigh Salterton to Otterton via East Budleigh (birthplace of Sir Walter Raleigh).
Didn't see any beavers in the Otter River but did see their teeth marks on trees.

Falmouth, Trelissick and Mylor | 2024-05-24 | The plan had been to "nip round the corner" (i.e. past The Lizard) and then spend a night at Newlyn before heading off across the Celtic Sea to Cork, Ireland. However, after spending quite a while comparing several different forecasts from several different weather models, we reached the unwanted conclusion that we didn't have a good enough weather window to set off on the Saturday for the 30 hour(ish) passage. So in very still weather we motored up The Carrick Roads for lunch at anchor in Channals Creek (i.e. under Trelissick House). Then down to Mylor Yacht Haven were Thalmia is moored up until we spot a decent weather window to allow the "Ireland Trip" to continue. On the plus side, this gives time for a sail maker in Penryn to replace the damaged panel in Thalmia's spray hood. Tags:

Falmouth to Newlyn | 2024-05-31 | A lovely sail down from Mylor (Falmouth) down and round The Lizard. Once round The Lizard things became a little more arduous as we didn't have the angle on the wind we'd hoped for and had to motor sail into short, choppy seas (I tried to take some photos showing the waves / spray with my new waterproof camera but the results are "mixed"). The chop reduced the boat speed considerably and continued until we were pretty much level with Newlyn (have a look at the speed graph lower down this page which shows this quite dramatically!). After a brief diversion to Penzance to look at their "waiting buoys" (we didn't fancy them), we anchored for the night just south of the harbour wall / entrance to Newlyn. Tags:

Mylor to Malpas | 2018-07-07 | On one of the stunning summer days in 2018 we put the canoe in at Mylor and paddled up towards Truro - getting just a little way past Malpas.
Just about everything was great - the tides were as planned, the sun was hot and there was a cooling sea breeze (OK - that had to be paddled back in to on the way back!).
