| Carlyon Bay to Charlestown | 2025-09-08 | From the Carlyon Bay Camping Park along the coast path to Charlestown.
I think Charlestown was looking a little sad. There was some work started on changes to the harbour but is was closed (part from a large Border Force rib stooging about).
Pretty good fish and chips on the harbour at Charlestown and then back along the coast path.
Carlyon Bay Camping Park is expensive but rather good.

| Constantine Bay | 2025-09-17 | Having hidden in the van all day from the rain, wind and mizzle, the need to avoid going stir crazy lead to a short walk to Constantine Bay. Nice coffee and cake though.

| Treen to Lands End | 2025-09-15 | Dodged the rain to walk from Treen via Porthcurno and Porthgwarra to Lands End.
Exhausting walking into the 40 to 50mph westerlies (yellow wind warning). Because we didn't fancy the coast path so close to the cliff edge at Nanjizal Bay, we cut inland for the last part of the walk.
Lands End just as tacky as ever.
Then caught the bus back to Treen.

| Beare's Den to Marizion | 2025-09-13 | From Beare's Den campsite down to the coast path and then along to Marazion.
A pint in Marazion and then we opted for the bus back to Rosudgeon.

| Trewithian too Merrose Camp Site | 2025-09-10 | Bit of an odd one. After walking from St Mawes to St Just along the west side of the Roseland Peninsula, the idea was to catch a bus across the peninsula to Porthscatho and then walk the coast path back to Merrose camp site near Trewithian.
However, the road down to Portscatho was blocked so the bus driver dropped us off on the A3078 about a mile away.
After noodling across some fields, we reached the coast path near Porthbean Beach and then turned round and walked back to the campsite,

| St Mawes to St Just In Roseland | 2025-09-10 | Caught the bus from Merrose Farm Campsite down to St Mawes. Scooby Hound a bit unsure about the bus to start with.
As forecast, the weather gradually got less rainy the closer we got to St Just on our walk.
Rather good lunch at Renwicks Cafe above the church at St Just

| SYC to Brixham | 2025-05-01 | A leisurely sail down from SYC to the Events Pontoon at Brixham ahead of a crossing to Guernsey.
It was Pirate time in Brixham that weekend and there were a few early idiots whose late night antics made getting up for a 4am start all the harder.
And then there was the late night arrival who smashed the stern light on Derek H's Fulmar - which wasn't appreciated given the 4am in-the-dark leaving time.
But the fish and chips from Simply Fish takeaway were good!

| St Peter Port to the Exe | 2025-05-11 | After a day's delay to let strong winds go through, we exited Victoria Marina over the cill at about 04:10. The Little Russel was very calm with only a few pot buoys to contend with.
After an all too brief 20 minutes of excellent sailing, the wind died away to almost nothing. With strong north easterly going tides, we motored towards the TSS.
Unfortunately one of the 3 yachts suffered an engine failure (which turned out to be due to a physical blockage from the fuel tank - not diesel bug related). With no wind to sail by and with the tides flowing towards the Casquet rocks, the decision was made to make a pan pan call to the coastguard. A short while later, the Alderney all weather lifeboat was launched to tow the yacht to Braye harbour. Before starting the tow, the lifeboat very kindly transferred one of the crew from the yacht to Thalmia - the crew needed to be back in the UK for work the next day. With no wind and only some swell, I think the lifeboat team were happy to help and get a bit of practice in at the same time.
After that, crossing the TSS was straightforward (with one vessel contacted on CH13 to confirm they'd seen us and were happy for us to continue as the stand on vessel).
Because of the delay as we stood by the "poorly" yacht, we were late getting back to the Exe which meant that we went up the Exe half way through a falling Spring tide and in the dark - so not really ideal! However, it all went well and Thalmia was back on her mooring at SYC by about 22:15.

| Sark to St Peter Port | 2025-05-09 | Started the day with a wander round Sark and a lovely soup lunch at Stocks hotel.
A short but fast sail from Havre Gosselin, Sark to St Peter Port in Guernsey.
There were some confused seas to the east of the Lower Heads cardinal.
When we got to St Peter Port the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day were in full swing.

| Granville to Sark | 2025-05-08 | One of the best sails of the trip. From Granville in Normandy, between the Iles Chausey, the Minquiers and the south coast of Jersey and on to the anchorage at Havre Gosselin on the west side of Sark.
We'd assumed a slower boat speed and that we'd hit a lot of adverse tide but we flew through until we got to the Corbiere light at the south west corner of Jersey.
We were then pretty much into a F6 headwind and contrary tide so we motor sailed up to Havre Gosselin - which was a excellently sheltered anchorage from the NE winds.

| St Cast to Granville | 2025-05-07 | We decided on Granville as the next port of call to get a better angle on the wind for the return trip to Guernsey.
The first attempt at leaving St Cast was short lived due to an engine overheating problem on one of the yachts. The "yachting hive mind" diagnosed a loose jubilee clip on a cooling water pipe.
The continuing NE winds meant that we couldn't sail all this passage and get to Granville in time to get over the marina sill. So we motored out from St Cast into the wind until we passed the Vieux Bank cardinals. We then bore way and motor sailed most of the way to Granville with a bit of sailing at the end when we knew we had time enough to get to Granville marina.
The photos include those from a "day off" exploring St Cast including an excellent "moule a la moutard".

| St Peter Port to St Cast | 2025-05-05 | A fairly strong following wind for the sail across from St Peter Port on Guernsey to St Cast in Brittany.
We sailed pretty much the whole trip under just full headsail but still maintained a good average speed.
First time into St Cast for me. It is an all tide marina with a fairly straight forward approach - albeit it was a shelving lee shore coastline!

| Brixham to St Peter Port | 2025-05-02 | Not a lot of wind on the trip from Brixham to St Peter Port, Guernsey. Mostly just headsail up.
An easy crossing of the TSS. A rather large ship was contacted on Ch13 and was happy for us to continue in our role as the "stand on" vessel.
Saw the first dolphins of the trip as we passed Berry Head but unfortunately I was on "lobster pot watch" rather than "dolphin watch"!
